Code of Ethics

For authors that did not perform any human or animal studies in their study, a statement should be included under the Ethics Statement of the manuscript declaring that there are no animal or human engagements in the conduct of the study. Otherwise, the following conditions should be followed:

STUDIES INVOLVING HUMAN SUBJECTS

  • The names and information of the respondents must be kept confidential and should not be included in the manuscript.
  • In the Ethics Statement section of the manuscript, it should contain a clarifying sentence or an equivalent statement indicating that the authors obtained informed consent form from all respondents in the study and that the procedures were in accordance with the 1975 Helsinki Declaration as revised in 2000 and followed the ethical principles of the responsible committee on human experimentation.
  • An ethical clearance must be obtained from the Research Ethics Board of affiliated university.

STUDIES INVOLVING ANIMALS

  • A statement should be included under the Ethics Statement section stating that the researchers strictly adhered to the institutional and national guidelines in handling, caring, and using laboratory animals during the conduct of the study.

STUDIES INVOLVING REGULATED SPECIES UNDER ANY PHILIPPINE LAW

  • A statement should be included under the Ethics Statement section affirming that permits and/or authorization has been obtained from the designated government agency or office in allowing the conduct of the study involving the regulated species.


The lack of any of the statements indicated above, a reason, or an alternative statement in the manuscript should be included in the cover letter and the manuscript.
